Anita M.'s Story
Since graduation from high school, I independently put myself through college and medical school and went on to Yale University where I completed my residency in Psychiatry. I discovered the psychiatric manifestations of Lyme disease in 1985, during my last year of the residency, working with the registry of patients in whom Alan Steere, M.D. had first described the infectious nature of the illness in 1975. I joined the clinical faculty at Yale, and entered private practice. I have maintained a private practice in Westport, Connecticut since 1988, specializing in Eating Disorders, and in Lyme disease. From 1988 through 1999, I lectured throughout the world on the neurocognitive and psychiatric manifestations of Lyme disease, and have been consulted by individuals dealing with these issues throughout the United States. I am also fluent in French, having obtained degrees in French Literature as...Expand for more
well as Biology (Magna cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa)from UCSD, and use my French for psychotherapy with French-speaking individuals in my office.
In my leisure time, I have seriously pursued Modern Dance, particularly the Doris Humphrey technique; horsebackriding and Dressage, having owned two thoroughbreds; and music, including classical and Flamenco guitar. I enjoy gardening at my lovely antique home in Westport, Connecticut where my practice is located, and keep another lovely home as my secluded haven. With the man in my life, I enjoy all that Connecticut and Manhattan, 45 minutes away, have to offer.
There is a new addition to my life as of September: an adorable show quality Japanese Chin dog, all of 4 pounds. We will embark upon showing and breeding in the future, and expect it to be another wonderful adventure in our beautiful life.
I send my regards to all from Patrick Henry High.
